MERLIN QX

The new MERLIN QX scanner can select and classify soft and hard wood boards. The 4-sided multisensor system detects dimensions, quality, knots, resin pockets, bark, colors, and other characteristics. Furthermore, in 200ms, it optimizes and determines the cutting positions to be sent to the OPTI 599 fast crosscut lines.

Defect detection:
– By determining the angle, length and area of the laser spot, optimal detection of the deviation of the fiber and the visual parts of the knots is ensured.
– Detection of internal defects with XRay based on the difference in density, eliminating the influence of dirt or roughness of the saw on the surface.
– Detection of surface knots by combining XRay signal, laser scatter and multispectral color.
– Based on the complete 3D reconstruction, holes, lack of material or bark are detected.

Real-time display of the assessed boards.
Presentation of 4 sides for visual inspection.

DATA BACKUP AND STATISTICS
Intelligent error messages with monitoring of sensors and actuators with mutual control of cameras and other sensors.
Creation of a table for the properties of each measured board (txt file) according to customer’s specific rules.

High-productivity plant with MERLIN Q scanner and two OPTI 599 crosscut saws

OPTI 599

The OPTI 599 is a high-performance crosscut saw which can increase your productivity by up to 30% compared to traditional ones. Designed for use in high-production lines for heavy-duty non-stop operation, it employs a hardened steel helical toothed roller drive system incorporating a powerful brushless motor that guarantees a 260 mt./1’ feed speed.

Cutting takes place by means of a connecting rod movement controlled by a brushless motor with 0.15 second cutting times.

The rejects are ejected at the rear at the moment of cutting and the sizes are separated at the exit on the sorting belt by means of lateral ejectors.

OPTI 599 with reading station

The board dimensions and the defects marked with fluorescent chalk are detected by a separate reading station or automatically by an MERLIN Q scanner. The high-speed scanner controls every side of the board and reads its characteristics and defects in an accurate manner that no operator could ensure. The data processed are sent directly to the saw at high speed in order to execute the cut.

Loading and unloading can be fed automatically by means of:

CT4 layer loader with vacuum system and recovery of the strips.

SC1, single-size stacker with angular elements.

SC4, stacker with mobile angular elements for simultaneously unloading different sizes.

OPTIMAX 600

Powerful optimizing crosscut saw for cutting of medium-sized boards. Due to its speed (260mt./1 ′) and cutting capacity (100x0350mm.) it is used by manufacturers of packing boxes or in line with band saws and multi-ripsaw.

Equipped with a new software, it optimizes by length by eliminating defects marked with fluorescent chalk, according to different thickness or quality.
It can be supplied in horizontal or inclined version.

The reading station is placed at a distance that allows the total board reading to obtain an optimization with maximum yield and minimum waste. It automatically detects the length and thickness of the boards, optimizing them. OPTIMAX 600 can be supplied with our brand new MERLIN Q scanner for the creation of lines with very high production capacity.

Feeding is ensured by a series of hardened steel toothed rollers and vertical pressure wheels. Accuracy is ensured by the metric wheel which, leaning on the tables, detects the real movement of the boards, eliminating any possibility of error due to slippage during the advancement at high speeds.

Powerful, fast, precise, the new PUSH 250 MAX Optimizing crosscut saw is designed to work large boards.

Equipped with a Ø 800mm blade. it has a cutting capacity of 100x600mm.

Positioning speed 250 meters / 1′ with 1mm accuracy.

The pusher equipped with pneumatic gripper with floating system and up-down grip allows a high positioning speed without slippage and during the backwards stroke it detects the length and thickness of the boards, optimizing for length and thickness.

The PUSH 250 MAX is normally used in the sawmill between the bandsaw and the multiripsaw, ensuring speed, precision and optimal use of the wood with minimum waste.

Our optimizing crosscut saw OPTI 599 is now available also in an increased version called OPTIMAX 600.

The introduction of saws of 600mm in diameter coupled to motors up to 15kw along with an increased feeding system allows to process boards up to 260mm wide maintaining the same precision and speed as the basic model.
